“Around the Course’’ NK’s Toolin: 1st Rhode Islander at Wickham Park Invite

     11 Oct.  – – North Kingstown’s talented freshman distance man Sam Toolin was the top local runner to place in the boys’ Championship Division event at the Wickham Park Invitational, held Saturday in Manchester, Conn. Toolin, who helped pace his team to an undefeated (12-0) dual meet record in the Southern Division this season, clocked 16:14 for second place in the 3.1-mile race. Senior Dylan DePriest, meanwhile, was East Greenwich’s first runner in the championship event. He placed 13th in 16:59.

     In the girls’ Championship bracket, Skipper sophomore Emma Sammartino was the first Rhode Islander over the line. Sammartino came in 16th in 23:13.
