Bayha And Dwyer Girls’ Division Meets

4 Feb. 2011 – North Kingstown’s Aisha McAdams continued her winning ways at the Bayha Division Championships at the PCTA track Thursday night. Running in the 3000 meters, the Skipper sophomore clocked 10 minutes, 15.2 seconds to outpace the field. Toll Gate senior Samantha Chace won the Bayha 1000 in 3:05.2. Prout sophomore Karly Gregory was a double-winner at Bayha. Gregory took the 600 in 1:41.4, and the long jump in 5.16 meters (16 feet, 11.50 inches). The Titans won the Bayha team title, 89-82, over second-place North Kingstown.

In the Dwyer Division meet, Woonsocket sophomore Kaylnn Pitts won the high jump (1.52m/5 feet) and the long jump (4.94m/16-2.50). Woonsocket captured the Dwyer title with 157 points.

Oval Notes: The Headley and Sullivan Division Championships, originally scheduled for Wednesday, have been moved to Tuesday, 8 February . . . Class Championships are slated for next Saturday, 12 Feb., beginning at 12 noon . . . In the latest national rankings, Chariho’s Innocent Jacob remains No. 2 in the boys’ long jump with his SR mark of 7.34 meters (24 feet, 1 inch). Currently, the best jump nationally is 7.41 (24-3.75), held by Texan Devin Field . . . In current New Englsand boys’ performance rankings, La Salle’s Jalen Young is third in the 300 meters (35.47), and Hendricken’s Tony Colella tops in the 500 (1:12.18). Liam Hillary, of Smithfield, owns the region’s best time in the 3000 (8:40.57). Jacob’s long jump is tops in the region, as is his high jump of 2.11 (6-11). South Kingstown’s Ben Shaw is No. 1 in the triple jump (14.19m/46-7). Classical weight man Joe Velez’ 21.66 meters in the 25-pound weight (71-1) is also tops . . . In girls’ New England rankings, Central Falls’ Aleide Fernandes leads the list in the 20-pound weight event. Her best is 16.43 meters (53-11).
