Nov. 20, 2009 – A pair of 2009 All-State harriers were the first Rhode Islanders to finish in their respective events Saturday at the Foot Locker Regional cross country at Sunken Meadows State Park, New York. The course distance was 5,000 meters.
Cranston West senior Arianna Colella (third at this month’s State Championships) finished 42nd overall in the girls’ Championship Division with a time of 20 minutes, 11 seconds. McLaughlin, who earned second-team All-State honors this fall (eighth place), ran in the boys’ Championship race; he came in 66th in 17:24.
Other Rhode Islanders to compete in the Championship races: GIRLS: 2 (88), Stephanie Beaudette, Bay View 23:13; 3 (90), Emily Payne, Lincoln 23:39; 4 (93), Jessica Sabourin, Lincoln 27:21. BOYS: 2 (94), Tim Kazanjian, Barrington 17:55; 3 (95), Cyrus Cousins, Barrington 17:56.
