Hawks, La Salle Girls Top Pre-State Meet Polls

3 Nov. – Continuing a trend that began with the first of four polls conducted by RIT&FF, the La Salle girls and Hendricken again topped the final poll of the season. Voting was done by a number of coaches, and some representatives of the media.

The Rams racked up 128 points this time, to 118 for second-place Barrington. Westerly, behind the strong finishes of freshman Jackie Burr, moved into the poll; in ninth place. In boys’ voting, it was again the Hawks, with 137 points, to 129 for La Salle. Chariho, which has come on strong as the season progressed, finished third in this survey (111), and North Kingstown placed fourth (100).

At the colonial AA meet, James Madison’s Brian Doyle (Hendricken) finished 17th . . . Mike Mackenzie 45th . . . Joe Siravo (Prout) 47th. . . Jake Sienko (Hedndricken) 23rd at Heptagonal meet Harvard junior Jeanne Mack (La Salle) made first team All-Ivy. She finished sixth at Heptagonal meet . . . Yale freshman Sarah Barry (Barrington) placed 56th . . . Bryant University freshman Dave Hurley (Chariho) was 28th at Northeast Conference meet.
