Event Information - 2010 Outdoor Track

• Schedule:
  • Girls’ 4k Hammer Throw - 2:00 p.m.
  • Boys’ 12# Hammer Throw - Follows girls
• Entry Standard:
  • Girls - 105’
  • Boys - 135’
• Implement certification: Implements will be checked in at the throwing circle.
• Competition:
  • Everyone will get three (3) throws.
  • Top seven (7) to finals for an additional three (3) throws.
  • If there is a tie for the last qualifying position all who are tied will advance to the finals.
• Awards: Medals to the top six (6) in each division.
• Entry Procedure:
  • E-mail Bob Gourley (email address above) with entry information.
  • Please use subject line: IRV BLACK HAMMER THROW ENTRY
  • Include:
    • Name of school, coach’s name, contact info (e-mail, phone number)
    • Name of athlete(s) entering, their class, and best performance this season.
  • This information must be received by Bob Gourley no later than Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. (noontime).
  • No entries will be accepted after noontime on the 9th of June. (This is required in order to meet deadline for getting information into the meet database.)
• Entry Fee: $10.00 per individual. Cash is preferred, but if you have to pay by check make payable to “Bob Gourley”.
• Athlete Waiver (Attached):
  • A completed Athlete Waiver Form will be required for each athlete competing in the Irv Black Hammer Throw Championship.
  • Whoever signs the waiver form (coach or parent) will be required to accompany the athlete to the hammer throw competition.
  • Bring completed waiver form and entry fee to the meet.

• Time: 2:00 P.M.
• Cost: Free
• Awards: Top six finishers get ribbons
• Events: 800m, 1500m, Fr. 1500m, Soph. 1500m, 3000m, 5000m
• Limits: One event only
• Rain Date: Thursday

The 12th annual thrower's pentathalon will be held on Wednesday April 21st at Cumberland H.S.

• Starting Time: 1:00 P.M.
• Events: hammer, discus, shot put, javelin, #25 weight
• Weigh-in: 12:30 P.M. followed by warm-ups at your first event
• Scoring: Individual and team results will be based on best throws in each event. The top three sores will count for the team in each event. The points from each event will be totaled to determine the team champion and the individual winners. A competitor is still eligible for individual honors even if he does not compete in every event. All scores will be recorded in metric for the scoring tables.
• Officating: will be done by the coaches.
• Awards: top 15 individuals will receive awards, the top team a plaque.
• Entry Fee: $5/individual, $20/team (make checks payable to chs, no purchase orders accepted)

Un-limited entries for each event will be accepted, but for safety reasons please do not enter an athlete in an event he has not trained for.
A team is based on three but anyone can score points for the team.

Note: This meet has been postponed to the rain date on April 24!

• When: Sat, April 17th
• Time: 10 A.M. field events; 10 A.M. running events
• Where: Cumberland H.S.
• Entries: Athletes can be entered in one running, one field, one relay event. Four entries per event, per team only.
• Awards: medals top 3, ribbons 4-6 no team scores
• Events: 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500, 3000, 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, 4x100, 4x400, 4x800, LJ, TJ, HJ (3-10 girls and 4-10 boys), PV (6ft. Girls and 7 ft. Boys), Ham., SP, Disc., Jav. Field events will have no finals. Three attempts will be given in jumps or throws.
• Entry fee: $40 for boys' and $40 for girls' teams; $5 for individuals. Make checks out to chs. Several schools did not pay last year.
• Officials: Coaches will be asked to help time. Jane Headley will do the Hy-Tech and send you the files.
