16 April - - Leigh Petranoff, now a senior at Illinois State University, is currently ranked third nationally in the women’s javelin throw. Petranoff has a distance of 173 feet, 3 inches (52.81 meters), which is a 10-foot (3.05 meter) improvement over her P-R of last season.
Petranoff is a graduate of Cranston High West (Class of ‘07), and is the R.I. state prep record-holder in the javelin with a throw of 145-1 (44.22). That mark was attained at the 2007 Loucks Games in White Plains, N.Y. on 12 May.
