5 Sept. – – North Kingstown senior Beth Nunnery had the best girls’ time in the Roy Race at Saturday’s RIIL Injury Fund Relay Carnival cross country event, held on the 3.1-mile course at Burrillville Middle School. She clocked18:48.8 to victory. Meanwhile in the Sullivan girls’ race, La Salle’s top three runners finished in close order. Seniors Karina Tavares and Eliza Rego clocked in 1-2 at 18:43.13 and 18:43.43, respectively. Sophomore Emily Kane finished third in 18:43.82.
The top times of the four boys’ races were provided by the Rams’ junior DJ Principe and Matt Bouthillette, a senior. Principe clocked 14:59.1 for the win, with Bouthillette hitting the tape at 14:59.2.
South Kingstown, North Kingstown, Smithfield and La Salle were team champs on the girls’ side. The boys’ team titles were copped by Hendricken (with a perfect score of 15), South Kingstown, La Salle, Barrington and East Greenwich.
