BARRINGTON’S ADAM KELLY WINS NEW BALANCE WEIGHT THROW

25 Jan – – Barrington High senior Adam Kelly, the R.I. and New England record-holder in the boys’ 25-pound weight throw, on Saturday handily won the New Balance Games event in New York with a mark of 82 feet, 5 inches (25.13 meters). Kelly’s top thrown thus far this season is an 83-foot (25.30) toss, currently the best distance nationally.

Two of Kelly’s Eagle teammates also competed on Saturday at the Armory Track Center in the Bronx. Senior Mike Alvernaz placed second (69-7.50/21.22) and Jamie Heinl, also a senior, finished sixth with a throw of 55-7.75 (16.96).
