6 Dec. – – The nationally-ranked La Salle teams competed on Saturday at the Nike Team Cross Country Nationals, held at Glendoveer Golf Course in Portland, Ore. The Ram girls’ team placed ninth, with the boys’ squad finishing 18th. The meet was held in a slight drizzle, with temps in the 50s. Manlius High, of Syracuse, N.Y. won both team championships (70 for the girls’ 111 for the boys’.. La Salle’s total in the girls’ competition was 275; the boys 372 points.

GIRLS

The Rams’ top finisher was Sheridan Wilbur, who came in 28th (fourth team position) in a time of 18:18. The other La Salle girls (with overall finish, followed by team place):

41 (9), Eliza Rego 18:31; 96 (51), Karina Tavares 19:09; 144 (99), Michele Renzi 19:43; 158 (113), Audrey O’Neill 20:01; 166 (121), Elise Papazian 20:05; 177 (132), Cianna Lynch 20:23.

South Kinsgtown freshman Ellie Lawler, running as an individual, placed 33rd in 18:22. Lawler came in fourth overall at last weekend’s Nike Northeast Regional meet at Wappingers Falls, N.Y.

BOYS

D.J. Principe placed 75th (No. 40 as the Rams’ lead man.) Principe clocked 16:20. The other La Salle placers (overall and team finish):

Course Notes: The La Salle boys won the regional team title last week at Wappingers Falls. The girls’ club finished third, making the final cut as an at-large team . . . A total of 22 teams took the Glendoveer starting line in each race on Saturday . . . The Nike girls’ winner was Allie Ostrander, a senior from Alaska, in 17:10. Senior Tanner Anderson, from Washington State, took the boys’ race with a time of 15:11 . . . Next Saturday in San Diego, Calif., Barrington High junior Emma Mc Millan will compete as the Foot Locker National meet. Mc Millan is the second female prep harrier from the state to qualify for the national championship.
